All the National Arts of the World in One Showcase
Rojan Press: The traditional arts researcher proposed the idea of establishing the organization to further introduce the roots of Iranian art to the world, to encourage Iranian artists to interact with artists from around the world, and to participate in international competitions.
Professor Mohammad Ali Vadood believes that the experiences of the past should be used to build a better future. In fact, with the individual achievements of artists, an international confederation can be created for the national arts of all cultures anywhere on this planet, which is the dream of every artist and art lover.
He says: Iranian arts need a national federation, because art is no less than sports, and if artists know that a national arts federation exists, they will prepare themselves for international competitions.
He hopes that this proposal will bring to fruition the years of effort of art pioneers and will be able to manifest authentic Iranian art in all fields on the global stage.Under the pretext of proposing the idea of the World Confederation of National Arts, reporter Rojan conducted an interview with this master craftsman, which is now before you; but before that, get acquainted with the global status of Master "Mohammad Ali Vadood" and the magnificent works of this famous artist in museums, who is the founder of the idea of forming the World Confederation of National Arts:

And as for our conversation with this masterful artist:
* How did the initial idea of the National Arts Confederation come about?
– In my years of personal activity in the field of traditional arts, I have repeatedly witnessed the overwhelming enthusiasm of enthusiasts, and after a while, their energy and motivation decline due to environmental factors; because society does not have a plan for the merits and perfections acquired by its children!
It's simple, a young person works hard for years and gains expertise and ability, but when he reaches the level of efficiency, he realizes that there is no place for his use and usefulness. This phenomenon, which is a kind of destructive motivational collapse, is the source of many cultural and economic problems, especially in the community of traditional arts activists.I have faced this issue for years, analyzing and thinking about what it is and why.
The conclusion I reached was: We cannot solve our problems from the level of thought that created them! We need to move to a higher level of thought and solve problems from that position; I realized that the best way to overcome the current shortcomings and problems is to bridge the gap to the future and build the infrastructure of healthy international interaction; and that in a field where we are inherently the inheritors of a significant part of human heritage.
"Traditional arts" is a field in which Iran can inherently claim and whose claim is indisputable and acceptable; therefore, the reasons for the need to create a centralized center to gather the potential in the country and attract the attention of other countries to this center emerged, which, taking into account the experiences and success of fields such as economy and sports in the form of forming a federation, the idea
The formation of the National Arts Federation and then the World Confederation was born.
Such an institution can have a significant impact on motivating and attracting the participation of all members of society, and turn national arts into an interesting arena for economic, social, and cultural activities.
* What benefits does the formation of the National Arts Confederation bring to the country?
– I would like to point out that the answer to this question could be as long as a detailed dissertation! But in a brief answer, I can summarize the scope of the benefits of this project under the following headings:
1- Economic dimension:
The integration of the activities of the traditional arts community in the form of a federation can lead to the formation of capillary networks, regional networks, and subsequently the banking of products that meet market needs, in which case the goods and products produced will have the capability and size to be exported in containers and will be of interest to traders and large economic investors.
In addition, an institution of the size and stature of the federation will be a significant arena and showcase for the visibility of products and activities in this field.
2- Social dimension:
Certainly, teenagers and young people are always looking for attractive and successful role models to seek their future in the status and achievements of these models. The Federation's purposeful and coherent activity creates a network of accessible paths for all interested parties from villages to cities, metropolises, countries and the international arena. Such a structure can, within a few years, turn the field of traditional arts into one of the most important areas for attracting social potential and create vitality and motivation, as well as a bright future for the young generation.
3- Cultural dimension:
It is clear that our society today is facing the phenomenon of "identity migration"!
The public expenses of our youth are borne by the country, but they seek their aspirations and horizons of dreams in other countries, because other countries create values and criteria of merit well and present them with high prestige on a global level.
The federation's activities and the creation of values based on authenticity and the beauty of honor can bring a wave of value phenomena to society in the form of a dynamic and inclusive culture.
4- Diplomatic dimension:
Creating an international institution that can attract the acceptance and goodwill of regional countries that have common cultural roots and then bring other countries of the world along can create a respectable and honorable position in the field of soft power in the field of international relations and be used as a winning card in international equations.
5- Political dimension:
Every nation demands from policymakers and leaders of the country that they take initiative to improve the quality of life of the people and implement public benefit programs. The honor of realizing such a project can, during the time of the leaders' rule, create public affection and acceptance of the leaders' performance, and be a golden leaf in the record of the country's major policymakers.
6- Security dimension:
The national security of any country lies in ensuring the health and well-being of the three areas of economy, culture, and community identity.
The formation of a confederation can have a significant impact on justifying the growth of diverse fields of traditional arts and crafts, and given the structure of this field in the form of home businesses, it will lead to economic activity for families and the preservation of cultural and identity values of the community.
7- Historical dimension:
The formation of the National Federation and then the World Confederation of National Arts will undoubtedly be a significant event in the history of art and the history of civilization, because this international organization is something like an Olympic sports event founded by Greek civilization.
In the book "The History of Civilization," Iran will be considered the founder of the formation of the most extensive international event of national arts, and this achievement will be recorded in Iran's name.
* What is the mechanism for provincial membership and the participation of professors and artists?
– I should point out that national arts are a process that is thousands of years old and has a history that goes back to human civilization. We should imagine the federation as an organization that will not stand in the way of national arts and their natural path, but rather, this organization is intended to stand alongside the mainstream of national arts that is moving forward spontaneously, and by creating guidelines based on technical logic, standardize and define opportunities.
Individual activists can participate in the federation's activities and benefit from the opportunities created by following the guidelines and reaching the defined standard level.
In fact, the plan is to form city and provincial committees for standardized disciplines and have the federation recruit members from these committees.
I would also like to mention that after developing guidelines for standardizing disciplines, committees can register their local disciplines under the name of the region, and if they comply with the federation's standards, the proposed disciplines will be officially included in the table of competitive disciplines and the subject of the federation's activities.
* What disciplines can enter the confederation?
Let me compare it to wrestling; in different ethnicities around the world, there are wrestling styles that are mostly based on physical strength and superiority, and whoever has the most strength wins. For example, Khorasan Chokhe wrestling. But only two wrestling styles managed to adapt to the protocols of the International Olympic Committee and be registered in the list of Olympic disciplines. Freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling, which, in addition to physical fitness, are based on thought and technique.
The approach of the National Arts Confederation is close to the same policy experienced in the field of sports.
In the scientific and technical committees of the Confederation, with the approach of improving the quality of products, standards will be developed and presented so that each discipline can adapt the characteristics of its design, implementation, and production processes, and will be added to the list of National Arts Olympiad disciplines as competitive fields of the Confederation.
What is the level of activity and scope of the confederation, and what horizon does it have in mind?
– Achieving the formation of the "World Confederation of National Arts" requires two approaches: internal and external.
In general, we intend to start this project by forming a National Arts Committee in the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and after preparing the legal and legal infrastructure by gathering and recruiting various associations related to traditional arts, we will form the National Arts Federation as a civil institution with an independent statute.
The activities and achievements of the Federation of National Arts will provide the basis for inviting countries in the region, especially ECO members, with which we share common cultural roots in traditional arts. Naturally, by accepting these countries as members, the "World Confederation of National Arts" will be formed, and its activities and international events can attract and recruit countries from other continents.
* Are there any exhibitions and events included in the Confederation's activities?
– The main activity of the “Confederation of National Arts” is in the field of standardization of traditional arts disciplines in order to be measurable and to improve the level through competition. Therefore, holding a national and international Olympiad of national arts will be the most important activity of the Confederation. This will entail a wide range of tasks in the field of producing educational content, lesson plans, creating global rankings, and various other matters.
We cannot solve our problems from the level of thought that created them! We need to move to a higher level of thought and solve problems from that position; I realized that the best way to overcome the current shortcomings and problems is to build bridges to the future and build infrastructures for healthy international interaction; and that in a field where we inherently inherit a significant part of human heritage.
* Who can become a member of the Confederation?
– Real individuals, provided they have a history of activity approved by reputable institutions, can become members of the National Arts Association of each country. The associations can become members of the National Federations of each country, and the National Federations of the countries will form members of the World Confederation of National Arts. The National Federations will have provincial committees, and the provincial committees will form and lead city committees. Those interested can enter the circle by becoming members of the committees of their city of residence.
Each of these teams is tasked with holding city and provincial Olympiads to form a city team and a provincial team. Subsequently, the provincial teams will participate in the National Traditional Arts Olympiad, which will be held by national federations, to compete and become members of each country's national traditional arts teams.
National traditional arts teams from each country are formed to participate in the World National Arts Olympiad, which will be organized by the Confederation at the international level and hosted periodically by volunteer countries.
* What is the legal structure of the confederation to advance its goals? Will it be a board of trustees or a board of directors that is elected periodically?
In this regard, we are currently assessing the feasibility and examining the legal capacities, and fortunately, with the consideration of Dr. Ali Akbar Abdolmaleki, the esteemed chairman of the Tourism Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, who pays special attention to this issue, we hope to reach the best format to advance our goals.
Overall, the leadership of the Confederation, Federation, and National Arts Association will be based on a long-term roadmap and in the form of a rotating board of directors.
* What is the role of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce in the realization and formation of this national and international project?
– “The Iranian Chamber of Commerce, as a powerful social institution, has excellent capacities for laying the initial groundwork for this project. Especially the Tourism Commission and related businesses, which inherently have a trustee position in this regard.
As a private sector organization, the Iran Chamber of Commerce is the most agile and active institution in the country that can provide the necessary support for this project, both domestically and internationally.
* If the Iranian Chamber does not welcome this plan, do you have another implementation plan?
– Personally, I consider myself a cultural soldier, and as the soldiers of the war said, “We are sent to the task, not the result!”
Of course, together with the friends who gave this project a visible identity and structure, we will do our best to turn this issue into a public demand to improve the situation of the national arts community, and I hope that soon the institutions that have a legally defined duty and responsibility in this regard will understand and join us so that this constructive goal can become a realized achievement.
If the Chamber of Commerce is not receptive, the next platform will be the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, where we will have to present the plan. God willing, whatever happens.
